Journal

Per-trade reviews, daily reflections, lessons learned — the place where pattern recognition actually happens. The tab where "I keep doing X" becomes a number you can see.

TradeOnyx Journal tab — trade-review feed with mood tracking, daily reflections, plan-followed flag per trade
What it is

The Journal tab is two views fused into one screen: a trade-review feed (every closed trade with mood-before, mood-after, plan-followed flag, post-trade notes) and a daily reflection (one entry per trading day with what worked, what didn't, what to fix next session).

The trade-review is mechanical: as you close positions, the platform creates a review stub for each. You fill in the execution grade, mood pre/post, plan-followed yes/no, and a 2-3 sentence note. Total time per trade: 30 seconds. The aggregate over 100 trades is the data you'd otherwise pay a coach to extract from you.

How to read it

What the Journal reveals over a few weeks: - Trades where mood-before was 1-2 (low/stressed) cluster as losers — that's a behavioral edge. Don't trade tired. - Plan-not-followed trades have lower expectancy than plan-followed trades — confirms the briefing-tab discipline matters. - Same lesson written 4 weeks in a row — pattern recognition is identifying the issue but the behavior isn't changing. That's a mechanical-rule problem (need an automatic stop), not an awareness problem. - Daily reflection that's the same words every day — go back to the trade-review level. You've drifted into copy-paste.

Where TradeOnyx uses it

The Journal isn't where you look for today's signal — it's where you build the multi-week picture that no other tab can produce. Every individual review feels mundane; the aggregate is where edge-degradation, tilt patterns and execution leaks hide.

In TradeOnyx every Journal entry is immutable once saved with full audit-log history — you can edit, but the platform records the previous version too. The reason: a trader who edits old reviews to look better in retrospect is the trader who can't fix the actual behavior. The audit log keeps the original honest.

Since 2026-08-11 the whole archive is searchable: the "Search entries" button above the editor runs a full-text search across every free-text field of every entry — focus, daily intentions, pre-market plan, session notes, post-market and lessons. Several words must all appear, and quotes keep a phrase together, so `"kein fomo"` finds the days you wrote exactly that. Hits come back as snippets with the match highlighted, ranked so a mention in your lessons outranks the same word buried in running notes, and clicking one jumps straight to that day. It searches the active account by default, same isolation rule as the calendar; tick "All accounts" to look everywhere. This is what turns a journal from a diary you write into an archive you consult: "what did I think about gold in March, and was I right."

The pairing: Journal + Trades tab. Filter the Trades tab by execution-grade or by plan-followed=false, and the journal entries for those trades light up — a one-click drill-in from the trade list to the post-mortem note. That's how a stretched losing month becomes a list of three specific behavioral fixes, not a vague "I need to do better."
